As part of National Osteopathic Medicine Week, the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine was recognized by the Bradenton Community to recognize the commitment and professionalism of the nation’s osteopathic physicians.National Osteopathic Medicine Week runs April 15-21.
Bradenton Mayor Wayne Poston presented an official proclamation to LECOM Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Robert George, osteopathic physicians and representatives from LECOM’s Student Government Association.
The event, which is promoted by the American Osteopathic Association and is held each year to coincide with the founding date of the AOA (April 19, 1897), aims to increase awareness of osteopathic medicine in communities across the country.

Jim Jones: Born in South Boston, Va., and raised in St. Augustine, Jim began working at the Bradenton Herald in 1999 and has 35 years of professional journalism experience. In addition, he served 21.5 years active and reserve duty in the Army. Jim earned his journalism degree at USF. He and his wife Kim have two grown children.
