But until recently, SMART did not have an outreach specifically for veterans. Now it does, and one of the first two vets who have signed up for the program is 87-year-old Arthur Bieser of University Park.
Recently, we caught up with Bieser at the SMART facility on County Road 675. He was all smiles as he drove a buggy pulled by a gray Percheron named Sterling.
Just what you might expect from a senior citizen who likes to stay busy. Bieser worked for the federal government 40 years before retiring at age 71, and then worked for another dozen years with a tax-preparation company.
